The Speech
Wow.The speech started slow. Very slow. He looked nervous, the speech lacked emotion, and the crowd looked a little bored.
Then it started to build momentum.
For the last 20 minutes, GWB had the convention hall on the edge of their seats.
He was humble, smart, hilariously funny, poignant, honest, self-affacing, emotional, and powerful.
He choked up while talking about his conversations with the families who had lost members in 9/11 and in the wars. He had us in the palm of his hand.
The shots in the crowd showed faces that were rapt, teary-eyed, and moved.
I choked up. My eyes watered and my heart rose.
This was a home run. This was an amazing, amazing speech. Liberal and conservative pundits alike are scoring this speech as an A+.
If you didn't see it, you really missed something. Analysts are saying that this speech was the best he's ever delivered. They're wrong. The speech he delivered to this country and to the world after 9/11 was the best speech I've ever heard or read at anytime in history. Perhaps I feel that way because I lived through it, but that's what I feel.
THIS speech, was close.
